Christmas. Shopping.

Happy Holidays to all!

Bit of a hiatus but, after days slopped out over my parents sofa buried under empty boxes of mince pies, I finally ran out of things to do and decided to tentatively give the blog a bit of a dusting off. So, how was your Christmas?!

Wearing my new fur coat. It's vintage and its rabbit and it's very very warm. I know, going to hell....

Don't get me wrong, I love plenty of the old Christmassy traditions. I love seeing my family, chatting and gossiping - even with the odd festive row thrown in for good measure - drinking sticky drinks and syrupy chocolates, bad telly, good film, and all the songs we screech away to under the twinkley lights. Why has there not been a single good Christmas song since the 1980s though? Makes no sense! Next year I want to see One Direction and the like seriously get stuck into this matter of grave injustice.

But Christmas, I must admit, has a strong commercial twang for me too. Oh yes it does. I seriously SHOP at this time of year, and it's not just on presents (pah if only!) I take the time off work as a given mandate to spend that early January pay cheque on the final drippings of the year's fashion stories -most of which I've only really just got my head around.

Stuff I tried on/bought to er,celebrate this festive season....

Just looking: Prada shoes. Very high. On sale but still mighty pricey in Selfridges.

Bought: Paul Smith skirt on sale, Boxing Day. Paul Smith florals are hard not to fall for!

Just looking: I can confirm that Topshop are saving all of their best stuff and NOT putting it on sale this year. Meanies.

Bought: Prada snakeskin and suede platforms. I loved everything about Prada's Sixties AW11 catwalk, and I can't stop grinning about these beauties!

The spirit of Christmas? Spending January living on beans on toast, obviously.

I appreciate that this blog post has advocated fur, dubious consumerism and about as much festive cheer as an empty box of After Eight wrappers. How very likeable a comeback....

  1. Fab shoes! And, as I said, cheap shoes are always a false economy... Anyway, I think it is always worth spending money on something you really love. The Paul Smith skirt is fab too. It's a good thing I can't be arsed to trek to Selfridges or I probably would have got myself in trouble! x
